Preikestolen BaseCamp, only 30 minutes from Stavanger, is idyllically located by Refsvatnet lake and the main trail to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). Are you looking to experience something new this autumn? If you haven’t experienced Preikestolen and the Lysefjord outside of the high-season, now’s your chance! The wintertime's weather is wilder and its daylight softer, making for perfect conditions for a unique hiking adventure. Stop by Hikers’ Café before or after your hike and enjoy a warm meal right at the start of the trail. If you forgot something, Hikers’ Café also offers rental of outerwear and hiking equipment.

Visit world-famous
Pulpit Rock

Annually, Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) has more visitors than any other hiking attraction in Norway. The 8-kilometer-long trail to Pulpit Rock offers visitors a variation of landscapes, ‘cliff’s edge’ experiences, and magnificent views of the Lysefjord and its surrounding mountains. 

After the hike, visitors can enjoy a well-deserved meal at one of Preikestolen BaseCamp’s eateries.


Welcome to Hikers' Café

During the autumn and winter, we warmly welcome you to dine at Hikers' Café, which is located just adjacent to the Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) trailhead. The café’s location allows you to take a well-deserved break in relaxed and rustic surroundings - either before or after your hike.

At Hikers' Café we serve seasonal comfort-food dishes as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks, including beer and wine.

Preikestolen BaseCamp equipment rentals

Do you want to spend the day hiking in the mountains, but lack the essentials? Year-round, we offer rental of high-quality tour gear, including hiking boots, outerwear, hiking poles, and other equipment for use during your land-based adventure.

The hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) and back is 8 kilometers and takes 4-5 hours. The route has an ascent of 500 meters, with some steep sections. As part of the hike to Pulpit Rock involves rough terrain, we recommend wearing footwear with solid soles and good ankle support.
