When is the best time to visit Preikestolen?

Preikestolen offers various experiences throughout the year. From May to September, the trail is usually snow-free, the days are longer, and the conditions are easier for most people who want to take the hike.
Autumn and winter offer a completely different side of the mountain, with fewer people, changing weather, and a unique tranquility in the landscape. In return, this requires more planning and the right equipment. Therefore, which season is best depends on the experience you want to have.

Why use Preikestolen BaseCamp as a starting point?

Preikestolen BaseCamp is located at the foot of the hiking trail, so you can wake up, have breakfast, and start your mountain hike just minutes after you step out the door. This provides a calmer start to the day and makes it easy to spend more time in nature and less time on logistics.
With accommodation, restaurants, activities, and equipment rental all in one place, you have everything you need both before and after your trip. When you return from the mountains, you can put your shoulders back, have a good meal, and enjoy the rest of the day at BaseCampen.
