Packing list - winter and summer

BRING EVERYTHING YOU NEED

The hike to Pulpit Rock

The hike to Pulpit Rock and back is 8 km and takes 4-5 hours. The route has an ascent of 500 m, while some sections are quite steep.

As part of the hike to Pulpit Rock involves rough terrain, we recommend wearing footwear with solid soles and good ankle support. The Pulpit Rock plateau occasionally experiences strong gusts of wind, and, apart from warm summer days, it’s colder at the top than at the car park. The weather changes rapidly in the Lysefjord, so be prepared for wind and rainfall even if the sun is shining when you set off.

The hike to Pulpit Rock starts from Preikestolen BaseCamp, where you can rent footwear, outdoor clothes, crampons and other hiking gear, as well as buy packed lunches, snacks and drinks.
